KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A search for a missing Kalamazoo man is focusing on the Asylum Lake area. He frequently cross-country skied on the WMU Preserve near near Drake and Stadium. A tracking dog led them to the edge of the lake and they fear he may have fallen through the ice.
They believe the 56-year-old may have fallen through the ice and drowned. His name is not being released.
He was reported missing by his wife, a Kalamazoo College Professor who noticed he never came home Wednesday night.
They searched the rest of the WMU owned property.
One of the first things they found was his car, parked in a small lot for visitors to the lake.
The Kalamazoo County Dive Team says it was not safe to send in divers to search the lake with the unstable ice cover.
If the weather improves Friday morning, they plan to bring in a State Police Helicopter with special infrared equipment to scan for a body.
