Body found in NW Indiana believed to be that of missing Kalamazoo doctor

PORTER COUNTY, IN (WTVB) - A fisherman has found a body in a lake in Northwest Indiana near the spot where Kalamazoo Doctor Teleka Patrick vanished four months ago nearly to the day.

Porter County Medical Examiner Chuck Harris says what they recovered was the decomposed body of a black woman of undetermined age, wearing dark clothing. He says there were no obvious signs of trauma.  He says an autopsy is planned for Tuesday and they hope it will make it possible to confirm the identity using dental records. They did a sonar scan under the ice in late January. Nothing turned up on their screens, but knew they would have to come back when the ice melted.

The Patrick family says they are mourning, believing that it probably is Teleka, but they also say they are waiting for confirmation, and thanking everyone for their prayers. The lake is located yards from the spot where her car went off I-94 in Porter County, Indiana last December.
