KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- As we reported yesterday morning a new Ford Commercial says its illegal in Kalamazoo to Serenade your girlfriend, but is it?
Kalamazoo City Attorney Clyde Robinson says the words “serenade” and “girlfriend” do not appear anywhere in city codes.
He says it must be one of those urban legends.
He says there is an ordinance against Yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing if it disturbs the peace, but most cities have such restrictions.
He says quoting here “If some love-besotted Lothario who gives into song at 2 AM outside the window of the object of his affection may cause her or a neighbor to seek the assistance of the local gendarmes”, then he might be asked to move along or be cited but Robinson says there is no specific ordinance against serenading.
