Condolences offered on the death of Dr. Teleka Patrick

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Condolences are being offered to the family of Dr. Teleka Patrick, following the confirmation that it was her body that was found in Lake Charles in Northern Indiana over the Weekend.

Sheriff Rick Fuller concluded Wednesday’s press conference by saying that his “heart goes out to the family and friends, and they hope that this brings them the closure they need’’.

Laura Eller, the Director of Communications for WMU’s medical school issued this statement to the media.“We are saddened by the news that the body pulled from an Indiana lake on Sunday, April 6 has been identified as Dr. Teleka Patrick, a first-year psychiatry resident at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine”.

“We offer our sincerest condolences to the Patrick family. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them during this difficult time.

”The Patrick family also issued a statement saying “Teleka’s death is not the ending we had hoped for, however, the journey does not end here.

As we mourn Teleka, we must also honor her, honor the life she led, honor her kind spirit and honor her devotion to God and others. Thank you for your prayers.”

Two memorial services are being planned.  Funeral services will be held in Florida, where her family lives.
