OSHTEMO (WKZO) -- John Fisher is the first Democrat to announce he will be running in the 61st State House race this year.
Fisher is the Pastor at the Oshtemo United Methodist Church. He says he is running to represent the voice of the middle class in Lansing and to bring a little harmony to the state capital.
He says families deserve better than what they are getting now.
Two Kalamazoo County Commissioners, Phil Stinchcomb and Brandt Iden will face off in the Republican primary in August for the right to run against Fisher, if no other candidates jump in.
The district is currently represented by Margaret O’Brien who is running for State Senate.
