DETROIT (WKZO) -- An update on Steven Utash, that Detroit man who was savagely beaten after he accidentally struck a boy with his pick-up truck.
Police say the incident was not his fault.
Five suspects are now in custody for the beating, including a 16-year-old they intend to prosecute as an adult and charge with a hate crime.
The victim’s son, Joe Utash is convinced that race was a factor and so is prosecutor Kym Worthy, who says she intends to prove it.
His family says Utash is out of his drug induced coma and talking.
Not a lot of it makes sense because he is still heavily sedated, but he is talking.
