UNDATED (WKZO) -- Tuesday is the deadline for income tax forms to be mailed to the State and Federal Governments.
The IRS’s Luis Garcia says there are some important things to remember if you are rushing to get your forms in the mail, commonly made mistakes that you want to avoid.
He says check your math, and make sure all your other numbers are accurate, your social security number, your address and especially your direct deposit account number. He says if they send your refund to the wrong account, your refund could be gone forever.
He says they may seem like basics but it’s often the simplest things that trip people up. Often people forget to sign the forms, which causes a hassle and a delay.
Garcia says don’t staple forms together if you are going old school and mailing your forms. It just complicates things at their end.
Make sure you are mailing it to the right tax facility and don’t forget to put a stamp on the envelope.
