DETROIT (WKZO) -- A court filing by General Motors is asking to bar any lawsuits related to problems that occurred prior to their 2009 bankruptcy. The filing was made last week in federal court in San Francisco.
The automaker wants a federal bankruptcy judge to stop over three dozen proposed class action lawsuits over faulty ignition switches in millions of GM cars. The defect has been blamed for 13 deaths nationwide.
In the court documents the automaker claims the "new GM did not assume liabilities of the old GM."
