Red Wings take game one from the Bruins

BOSTON (WKZO) -- The Red Wings have taken home ice advantage away from the Bruins with a surprise opening game shutout in Boston.

In fact both goalies had shut-outs going until Pavel Datsuk broke away, using Bruin defenders as screens to sneak one past the Boston Goalie with just 3-minutes left to play.

The Red Wings were able to hang on to get the 1 to 0 win, and take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven playoff series.

Jimmy Howard stopped all 25 of the pucks that came his way to get his third playoff shut-out.

It’s the first time the two Original-Six teams have met in the playoffs since 1957.

Game 2 against the heavily favored Bruins takes place Sunday afternoon.
