OTTAWA COUNTY (WKZO) -- The convicted killer in a cold case double murder that took a quarter century to bring to trial in Ottawa County has been given life without parole.
51-year-old Ryan Wyngarden was found guilty of shooting and killing his sister and his brother-in-law, Gail and Rick Brink at their Park Township home in 1987.
The prosecutor claimed the motive was to cover up an incestuous relationship he had with his sister.
It was Wyngarden’s wife who told police that he had confessed to her that he killed them all those years ago, and her testimony that helped convict him.
Wyngarden has maintained his innocence.
