KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- They will be repaving Drake road and putting in new water lines.
Kalamazoo Commissioners approved the project, which is being done primarily to run a larger sewer pipe out to the site of the new Costco and other developments near the U.S. 131 intersection in Oshtemo.
Vice Mayor Dave Anderson used it as a springboard to challenge local municipal officials to begin working together on a wide range of issues.
He says developers want to see communities that work together, not communities that fight.
Last night commissioners received proposed higher water and sewer rates. Anderson cited the decades of conflict over the rate setting procedure as an example of the kind of behavior that scares developers away.
