KALAMAZOO (WKZO)-- Zoetis, the Pfizer Spin-off of its Animal Health Division has won an extension on its property tax break in Kalamazoo.
It will mean the city will forgo about 168-thousand dollars in taxes each year of the extension, but get a like amount it might not have gotten otherwise.
Commissioner Jack Urban was the lone commissioner to vote against it, questioning what the city gets in return.
Company spokesman Bob Randall says they are slowly consolidating operations in Kalamazoo.
In the first six years of the tax break, the company has more than doubled the promised number of jobs they would create and money they would invest in the community.
