DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The NFL released  its 2014 regular-season schedule on Wednesday and the Lions will begin the Jim Caldwell era with their new coach opening on the big stage of Monday Night Football with Detroit hosting the New York Giants September 8th at Ford Field. The Lion’s annual Thanksgiving Day game will be against NFC North rival Chicago. Their only other scheduled nationally televised contest is in London Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons with Week 9 Detroit’s bye week.

The Lions end to the regular season is wicked with their last two games on the road against the Bears and the Packers. The 2014 NFL campaign kicks off with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks hosting the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, Sept. 4th.

Super Bowl 49 is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2015 in Glendale, Arizona, at University of Phoenix Stadium.
