DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Detroit Red Wings are on the brink of elimination from the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs after the Bruins rallied for a 3-2 overtime win last night in Detroit. The victory gives Boston a 3-games-to-1 lead and they can advance to the Eastern Conference semi-finals with a fourth straight win over Detroit tomorrow afternoon in Boston.
Jarome Iginla scored the game winning goal with 6:28 left in the extra period as the Bruins erased a 2-0 second period deficit. Nicklas Kronwall and Pavel Datsyuk scored for the Red Wings while Jonas Gustavsson allowed all three goals on 40 shots in the setback. Gustavsson had the surprise start filling in for Jimmy Howard, who was out with the flu.
In minor league hockey, in the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs, Kalamazoo plays tonight at Greenville with the K-Wings trailing in the first round series 2-to-1.
