MINNEAPOLIS (WTVB) - The Tigers offense pounded out 15-hits last night in a 10-6 win at Minnesota in the opener of a 3-game series with the Twins. Detroit had a seven-run third inning and built up a 10-1 lead before settling for the 4-run victory. Nick Castellanos belted a two-run homer and added an RBI single for the Tigers during the third inning. Torii Hunter had three hits and knocked in 2 runs while Rajai Davis finished 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win. Detroit starter Rick Porcello pitched into the sixth inning and improved to 3-and-1.
The 12-8 Tigers will send Anibal Sanchez to the mound this afternoon at Minnesota.
The White Sox got a walk-off ninth inning grand slam from Jose Abreu to beat Tampa Bay last night 9-6 while the Cubs lost 5-2 at Milwaukee.
