CHICAGO, IL (WTVB) - A second team last night moved on to the Eastern Conference semifinals as the Wizards joined the Heat in advancing with their 75-69 victory over the Bulls in Game Five at Chicago. It's the first time Washington was able to get past the opening round since the 2005 postseason. The Clippers overcame the Donald Sterling distraction to take a 3-2 lead versus the Warriors with a 113-103 win in Los Angeles. And the Grizzlies and Thunder played a record fourth straight overtime game. Memphis came out on top, 100-99, at Oklahoma City to snag a 3-2 series lead.
The NBA moved swiftly Tuesday to punish Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for making racist comments. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that Sterling is now banned for life from the NBA and the Clippers organization and fined him two-and-a-half-million dollars. Silver said he'd do everything in his power to try to force Sterling force to sell the Clippers. Silver insisted the man's voice on a racially-charged recording released by TMZ over the weekend is Sterling.
