KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- 78-year-old Emily Hornev of Kalamazoo is fighting back after a clerical error listed her as dead, when she is very much alive.
She tells TV-13 that her credit score was good until last year, when the Social Security Office accidentally listed her as deceased.
Family members began getting condolence letters and inquiries from insurance firms and then her checks stopped, and it began to snowball.
Then banks, lenders and credit card firms started treating her like she was dead too.
The Social Security office has since issued a letter apologizing and saying she is indeed still kicking.
Now she is kicking back, filing lawsuits this week against the three credit bureaus, seeking damages for listing inaccurate information.
