ST. JOSEPH COUNTY (WKZO) -- Some faint hope was sparked by the discovery of a skull in the St. Joseph River a few days ago.
They thought the find by a fisherman near the Jacksonburg Road Bridge in Leonidas Township might be the skull of Venus Stewart.
It’s in the general area where Stewart was kidnapped, killed and believed to be buried by her estranged husband four years ago.
The body was never found, but her family has never stopped searching.
Lt. Chuck Christensen says an anthropologist asked by State Police to examine the skull says it’s not real. He didn’t offer any details.
