UNDATED (WNWN) - Seventh District Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg had no trouble winning his Republican primary on Tuesday, defeating Douglas Radcliffe North. Walberg advances to face Democrat Pam Byrnes in the November general election.
Proposal One passed and now a much hated business tax will pass into history. The smart money didn’t hold out much hope for Proposal One, saying it was just too complicated for voters to embrace and that it called for people to trust their state government. There are still a number of local officials who aren’t sure they trust the state will follow through, but they plan to hold their feet to the fire. The measure will eliminate the Personal Property Tax on small businesses, and sets up an elaborate system to repay cities, villages and townships for the lost revenue. It was not only approved, but by a two to one margin.
