Eric Leutheuser wins 58th District Republican primary, all three millage proposals pass in Branch County

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - With both candidates winning their home counties, Hillsdale automotive dealer Eric Leutheuser was able to place second in Branch County and capture the Republican nomination in the 58th District State House race. With 23 of 25 precincts reporting in Hillsdale County and all the votes counted in Branch County,  Leutheuser leads with 2829, followed by Tim Hart Haberl with 2299. Hart Haberl won Branch County with 1981 votes, but Leutheuser finished second with 879 and also won Hillsdale County by a wide margin. Brad Benzing finished in third place overall, followed by Jeff Jacques, Hal Nottingham, Rochelle Ray, and Steven Besson in the seven person field.

Leutheuser will now face off against Democrat Amy Thomas in the November General Election.

All three county-wide millage proposals passed in Branch County. They included renewals for the Branch County Commission on Aging and the Branch Area Transit Authority, as well as a new 1/2 mill proposal for the Branch District Library. The COA renewal passed 4593-1362, the BATA renewal passed 3906-2018, and the library millage passed 4281-1735.
