KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Eight neighborhoods in Kalamazoo County held National Night Out events last night.
It gave neighbors a chance to know the Public Safety officers who may be assigned to their district.Mayor Bobby Hopewell says Public Safety cannot do it alone.
Hopewell and Vice Mayor Dave Anderson were trying to attend as many of the events as they possibly could.
Over 300-turned out for the National Night out event in the Edison Neighborhood last night, where neighborhood officials think the problems with youth violence in their area have been over emphasized.
Bill Wells says he has lived their most of his life and he says the area may be a little more diverse now than it used to be, but it’s still a great place to live.
He says contrary to what you may see on TV and read in the paper,Edison is safe.
It was the 31st annual National Night Out.
