ALLEN PARK, MI (WTVB) - No headline material making its way out of the Lions’ eighth training camp practice session yesterday in Allen Park as the team prepares for their exhibition opener against the Browns Saturday night at Ford Field. However, there’s some disharmony to report for one of Detroit’s rivals in the NFC North.
Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett was suspended Tuesday for conduct detrimental to the team after an incident in practice on Monday. According to the club's website, Bennett slammed rookie defensive back Kyle Fuller to the ground after the first-round pick spun the veteran around on a tackle after a reception. The length of the suspension was not disclosed. Bennett is in his second season with the Bears after playing one season with the Giants and four with Dallas. He had career highs of 65 receptions with five touchdowns in 16 games last year.
