KALAMAZOO, MI (WNWN) - The Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital serves all of southwest Michigan. We first told you in May that there had been suspensions and an investigation after allegations of patient neglect and now we know why.
WOOD TV-8 is reporting in response to a freedom of information act request that a 68-year-old patient may have died because a nurse did not leave vital information for the next shift. She has since been fired. The Nurse Administrator was apparently fired for attempting to cover it up, and Hospital Director James Coleman has resigned. All the time the family of the dead woman was kept in the dark.
The hospital on Oakland Drive is being managed by a state health department appointee for now.
