Country newcomer Sam Hunt is just now hitting the airwaves with his debut single, "Leave the Night On," but country fans are already familiar with his songwriting. Sam was a co-writer on Keith Urban 's recent hit, "Cop Car," as well as on "Come Over" by Kenny Chesney and Billy Currington 's current chart-topper, "We Are Tonight." While listeners will hear some pop and hip-hop influences in Sam's music, his songwriting roots are planted firmly in the country genre.

Sam says, "Even though musically I might experiment with a little more of a progressive sound, I think the lyrics and the storytelling and the songwriting devices are pretty well anchored in traditional country music, in the way that the songs are crafted."

The Georgia native adds, "From a songwriting standpoint, that’s really what I’m drawn to."

"Leave the Night On" is included on Sam's four-song album preview, titled X2C , coming out August 12. His full-length debut project will follow on October 27.
