KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Kalamazoo Public Schools and the Kalamazoo Education Association have announced that their bargaining representatives have reached a tentative agreement for the district’s teacher contract for the new school year.
They aren’t releasing any details until it’s ratified.
It is one of the single largest local contracts funded by taxpayer money.
Meanwhile, the Portage Teachers Union has not come to terms with the District on a new contract, but the two sides have come to a consensus on the school calendar for the upcoming year.
School will start with a half day on September 2nd, the day after Labor Day.
Winter break will run from December 22nd through January 2nd.
Spring break will be the first full week of April.
Most of those dates will apply to all public school districts in Kalamazoo County because they share programs through the Math and Science Center and K-RESA and need a common calendar to make it all work.
