PAW PAW (WKZO) -- If you live in Van Buren County and voted on a 9-1-1 fee last week, your vote won’t count.
Apparently the question was never intended to be on the Primary Ballot, but someone in the clerk’s office misread the Commission’s resolution and put it there anyway.
Board members are calling it a big mistake, one they plan to correct with a do-over in November.
The language will also be clearer the second time around, stating that it’s actually an increase in the fee that residents now pay, from $1.50 per month to $1.92.
The Van Buren County Board held an emergency meeting Tuesday to meet today’s deadline to get it on the November ballot.
The question passed by a wide margin in the primary vote.
