COMSTOCK (WKZO) -- There will be no recall vote in Comstock Township this November targeting Supervisor Ann Nieuwenhuis, but there could be one next year.
Business owner Mike White missed the August first deadline to submit his signatures and get on the fall ballot. The deadline for the May vote is November 30th.
White claims he had to pay for a sign permit that he didn’t need and then couldn’t get a refund.
Nieuwenhuis claims it was all handled by a township department and that she doesn’t directly handle sign permits.
She says she has no authority to refund an application fee just because the applicant gets turned down.
She says if White goes forward she will take the matter to the Michigan Court of Appeals.
She says his proper course of action for White should have been to take the matter to the Township Board.
