UNDATED (WTVB) - A major increase in diabetes in the United States is on the way. A new study is showing that nearly half of the adult population will develop type two diabetes at some point in their lives. The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology has published a new report that says two out of every five Americans born between 2000 and 2011 are expected to afflicted by the disease.
Higher rates of obesity and life expectancy are contributing to the increasing risk of diabetes. Minorities are said to be at even higher risk, with around 50 percent expected of being diagnosed with diabetes.
