KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Yet, another gun has been removed from the streets of Kalamazoo.
Public Safety Officers responding to a report of six shots fired at the Hilltop Apartments early Saturday found a small group in the parking lot off Douglas Avenue.
As they approached, one of the subjects tried to make a run for it, dropping a 9-mm handgun, as they fled.
After a foot chase that lasted several minutes, the officers caught the 20-year-old Kalamazoo resident.
A check on the serial number of the handgun revealed that it had been stolen in Kalamazoo County.
The suspect is being held in the County Jail for carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstructing arrest, possession of a stolen firearm, felony firearm, possession of marijuana and an outstanding warrant.
The prosecutor may choose to add to the list later.
