PORTAGE (WKZO) -- The Portage City Council has finally begun to review candidate resumes for the City Manager’s post after months of preliminary preparations and posting for applicants.
The Council held a special meeting Monday that went behind closed doors because the candidates asked not to have their names released. The applicants would rather not have their current employers know they are shopping around for new jobs.
The city’s search firm narrowed the list of 35 applicants to 10 finalists. That was the gr oup that was reviewed yesterday.
The Council will whittle that list down to a few finalists on the 26th after their regular meeting.
Interviews will be scheduled for mid-September and a new City Manager chosen sometime after that.
