KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo City Commissioners will be clearing the way for the construction of Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s new downtown Campus near Bronson Hospital in coming weeks.
Last night they received a report proposing to change the designation in 33-lots to commercial zoning.
Many of the lots are currently zoned for manufacturing.
The new campus will include nursing and culinary colleges and a food production facility where the students can learn their craft.
It will also provide space for a new home for Kalamazoo Community Mental Health Services.
It’s a 42-million dollar project.
Commissioners will consider final approval for the rezonings on September 2nd.
