KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The first 54 students who have been accepted to Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine arrived at the new campus this week.
The first class of students was picked from an applicant pool of more than 3,500. There are 24 women and 30 men. They come from 14 states including 23 students from Michigan and 15 from California, representing 35 universities.
Three students are graduates of Western Michigan University and two are from Kalamazoo College, and one is a Promise Scholar.
The school plans a public grand opening celebration on September 18th. Public tours will be available on Saturday the 20th.
