SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A Calhoun County man is expected to be formally charged Tuesday with allegedly trying to kill his mother with a shotgun early Monday at her home near Albion.
It reportedly began with an argument the night before. 63-year-old Pat Siefert was shot in the shoulder as she lay in bed.
Despite the wound she was able to get out of the house on J Drive North, jump in her car and drive away. Deputies say her son chased after her, firing as he went.
He then fled on foot and was arrested later.
She required emergency surgery, was bandaged and released from the hospital. .
The 39-year-old suspect is being held for attempted murder and a variety of gun felonies.
He is reportedly an ex-con who served 20-years for a sex offense.
Deputies aren't releasing his name until he is arraigned.
