KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A 31-year-old Kalamazoo man who allegedly kicked in the door of a home and threatened an ex-girlfriend with a knife is sitting in the County Jail, waiting to be arraigned on home invasion and assault charges.
The 32-year-old victim was visiting a friend in the 11-hundred block of Bronson Avenue in Lakewood.
Kalamazoo Township Police Chief Tim Bourgeois says she was confronted by her ex-boyfriend at about 2:30 p.m. They argued and he allegedly grabbed her by the throat. She managed to escape and ran inside, locking the door behind her.
After they told him to go away, he allegedly kicked in the door and threatened his ex-girlfriend with a knife.
Her girlfriend called 9-1-1 and he fled through a wooded area behind the home.
He was arrested a few blocks away.
They found his knife along his escape route.
She suffered minor neck injuries that did not require treatment.
He may be arraigned Tuesday.
