COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A Coldwater doctor convicted in federal court in Ohio two years ago for illegally obtaining Oxycontin and Percocet to allegedly over-medicate himself has now finally lost his license to practice in Michigan. Ohio suspended the license of Dr. Joon H. Chong two years ago. Dr. Chong was sentenced to 18-months in federal prison this summer for conspiracy to possess controlled substances, by fraud, forgery or deception.
Ohio justified their suspension, saying Dr. Chong’s chronic substance abuse had impaired his ability to practice medicine.
Community Health Center of Branch County officials say Chong is in no way associated with the hospital in Coldwater.
