STURGIS (WKZO) -- A 4-year veteran of the Sturgis Fire Department, who has a wife and children of his own, has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct involving a teenaged girl.
The teen is apparently the daughter of another firefighter and a friend of his daughter.
36-year old Joshua Snyder is charged with two felony and two misdemeanor criminal sexual conduct charges.
Court documents claim the relationship began when the girl was 15, but didn’t turn sexual until after the girl turned 16 earlier this month.
Other firefighters remarked that she would visit him at the station, that they spent unusual amounts of time together and hugged and had contact that didn’t seem normal. After a number of suspicions were expressed,
police asked her what was going on and she alleged confessed they had sex for the first and only time on the 16th of this month. He is on unpaid leave pending an internal probe.
If convicted he could get up to 15-years for the most serious charge.
