KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday
Just when you thought the worst was over, another round of nasty winter weather is on its way, with its own annoying features.
A major snow storm is expected to bury west Michigan in another half foot or more by this evening. It may be topped off by freezing rain and sleet just to add to the mess.
It’s expected to be heavier and wetter than a lot of the snow we have received so far this winter and that will make it more challenging to shovel, and more of a health risk for those with chronic poor health, or who are just out of shape.
The City of Sturgis isn’t waiting for the snow to fall before they declare their latest snow emergency. It went into effect at midnight and its intent is to get residents to get their cars off the street to give plow trucks a clear path to remove snow from the streets.
Failure to comply could mean a ticket and a fine, or your car could be towed at the owners expense. It will remain in effect until your street is cleared of snow or the declaration is lifted.
