WEST LAYFAYETTE, IN (WTVB) - Friends and acquaintances of an educator who was employed in Coldwater a dozen years ago with the Branch Intermediate School District were relieved to learn that Marcia Gentry survived being shot multiple times during a domestic incident last week in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she works as a professor of education studies at Purdue University. Several media reports indicate the 51-year old Gentry is now hospitalized in good condition.
Authorities say Gentry was shot Thursday night at her home by her husband, 64-year old William Byers, who was discovered dead in the residence of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Indianapolis Star reported that Gentry had filed for divorce in November. Gentry had been a coordinator of the BISD’s Gifted and Talented program when she was employed by the intermediate school district.
