KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Local and state officials are ganging up on Winter, joining forces to try to pound home messages that motorists seem to be ignoring as this winter drags on with no end in sight.
Two months into one of the worst winters in recent memory, local Kalamazoo County Officials say drivers just have to make room to groom.
The Cities of Portage and Kalamazoo and the County Road commission issued a joint news release reminding motorists not to park in the way of the plow trucks and not to crowd the plows when driving near them.
The Director of the State Police and MDOT also teamed up on a news release to remind drivers to slow down.
Col. Kristie Kibbey Etue says troopers responded to over 52-hundred traffic crashes in January alone. '
They say most of them could have probably been avoided if the drivers had not been driving too fast for conditions and lost control.
