LANSING (WKZO) -- A group seeking to increase Michigan's minimum wage is trying to get 258-thousand signatures on a petition to submit to the Secretary of State's Office. The group calling itself "Raise Michigan" has submitted the outline of the petition already.
The new wage would be implemented over a three year period and would also be indexed for inflation. The measure also calls for increasing the salaries of those who rely on tips such as bartenders and waitresses. They would see 85-cents a year increases until their wage reaches $9.50 per hour.
The regular minimum wage would be $9.00 to $10.10 per hour.
