DETROIT (WKZO) -- Automakers are giving drivers who leased a vehicle incentives to turn the vehicle in early for a new model.
Approximately three million drivers in the U.S. will be turning in leased vehicles this year alone. Industry analysts say the number of "pull ahead" deals that allow a driver to turn in a vehicle early, could increase by 20-percent this year. Officials also say the three-million vehicle turn-in rate is 50-percent higher than 2012.
Auto dealers see two benefits from an early lease return. First, they can get a new car off their lot. Second they have a late model trade in that is attractive for those seeking a less expensive alternative than a new car.
