SOCHI, RUSSIA (WKZO) -- Thursday was generally a good day for Michigan Olympians, with one glaring exception, and Friday began very badly for another.

Detroit Red Wing Henrick Zetterberg, the Captain of the Swedish team has left the games and is headed back to Michigan after suffering a back injury.

Fellow Red Wing and Swedish national team member Niklas Kronwell will take his place.

Detroit Club figure Skater Jeremy Abbott who took a hard fall during the singles short program, is 15th going into today’s long program competition. Patrick Chan who also trains at the Detroit Club, but skates for Canada is second going into today’s event.

Muskegon’s Dan Byslma led the U.S. Hockey team to a 7 to 1 victory over the Slovakians. The only Slovakian score came from the Red Wing’s Thomas Tartar.
