PAW PAW TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A routine traffic stop turned into a felony arrest when Van Buren County Deputies smelled the odor of marijuana coming from a car they pulled over along I-94 after observing several traffic violations early Saturday morning.
They found a man and a woman and three children in the car.
A search of the car turned up marijuana and a handgun in the glove compartment. The man was arrested for possession of the drugs and for being a felon in possession of a gun, plus several traffic violations.
The woman was also found to be in possession of marijuana and wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Genesee County. She was later released.
The three children in the vehicle were not harmed and the report will be forwarded to Child Protective Services for review.
