TENNESSEE (WKZO) -- The UAW got some love, but not enough this Valentines Day from the autoworkers at a Chattanooga, Tennessee Volkswagen plant, where they turned down union representation.
Detroit analyst John McElroy says its another blow to the Auto Workers Union, which has never had much luck trying to convince a foreign owned plant in the U.S. to unionize.
An official overseeing the vote which ended Friday night said a majority voted 712 to 626 against UAW representation.
Fierce campaigns were waged by both sides, including an announcement by Republican U.S. Senator Bob Corker during the voting that VW would announce new investment in the plant if the union lost.
