COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- Enbridge will try again this evening to convince Comstock Township planning officials to allow the Canadian firm to set up a dredge pad in the township, to process contaminated river sediments.
This time they are seeking the permit for a vacant field behind the Benteler Plant off M-96 west of Galesburg.
In case they don’t get approved tonight, they have two back-up sites.
One is just on the other side of M-96 from the Benteler site, and the third is near the former Consumers Energy Site on the west end of Morrow Pond.
\They would be considered at Planning Commission meetings next week.
If they get approval at tonight’s meeting at Niko’s Landing in Comstock at 7PM, the other two sites would not be pursued.
