KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A new poll shows that 60% of the state’s population could support an increase in the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.
A group that wants to put the question on the November ballot has just received approval of their petition language from the State Board of Canvassers and plans to begin training petitioners, and sending them out to get signatures this weekend.
Meredith Loomis Quinlan with Michigan United says the goal is to get over 300-thousand signatures by the end of March.
They will launch the effort at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Gymnasium on Lake Street Saturday.
Similar launches are also planned in Detroit and Ann Arbor this weekend.
