KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Local elected races in Kalamazoo this fall may appear like a big game of musical chairs. Both local House Representatives are seeking a senate seat, and that has created a vacuum that is seemingly being filled by Kalamazoo County Commissioners.
Two of them, Brandt Iden and Phil Stinchcomb have both announced they are seeking the seat now held by Rep. Margaret O’Brien of Portage.
Iden has just announced he has picked up the endorsement of Portage Mayor Peter Strazdas, County Clerk Tim Snow and Treasurer Mary Balkema.
Iden and Stinchcomb will square off in the August primary, and the winner of that will likely take the fall election in the largely republican 61st district.
