KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The Governor of Arizona has vetoed a bill that would have allowed businesses to discriminate against anybody it wanted to on religious grounds after the proposal sparked a national uproar and strong opposition from businesses in the state.

Right now in the state of Michigan, any business can discriminate against gays, whether they have a reason or not.

Zack Bauer at the Kalamazoo LGBT Resource Center says until the legislature adds gays to the Elliott Larson Civil Rights act, discrimination will continue and he thinks the state will suffer as a result.

There are 32-communities, including Kalamazoo, Oshtemo, Kalamazoo Township and Battle Creek that have added the groups to their municipal human rights ordinances.

There are hundreds of others that have not.
