PARK TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- Ottawa County investigators say an autopsy on the body of a man found dead in the snow has determined he was the victim of a homicide.
Medical Examiner Dr. David Start has determined that 38-year-old Jose Hernandez died from several blows to the head, what they call “blunt force trauma”. They say he may have been hit by a pipe or a bat.
The body was reportedly found by family members who went looking for him after he failed to report to work Sunday night. They found his body covered by snow next to his car, which was running, outside his home at Amberwood Apartments in Park Township Monday evening.
Ottawa County Detective Mark Bennett says they have no suspects and are asking for anyone who may have pertinent information to give them a call.
Bennett says the victim appears to have been a "stand up guy", a hard-working church-going member of the community.
