SOUTHERN MICHIGAN (WKZO) -- After a massive snow storm last weekend followed by two days of arctic conditions, temperatures in the low 40s over the last day and a half have felt good for many around Michigan.
But that means the ine inch of rain and two feet of snow that has accumulated since New Year's Day needs some place to go.. .
The fluctuating temperatures have meant water underneath pavement has been expanding and contracting, causing potholes.
The heaving ground may have also been responsible for a water main break near Broadway and Chevy Chase in the Winchell neighborhood in Kalamazoo.
The melting snow has not only caused some roadways to flood, but it has also caused a problem for some homes in Detroit, where blocked drains are causing basements to flood.
On the other han, it has cleared most roads of Ice and snow and that’s a very good thing.
